BULL SHOALS ? A man wanted on a Seattle warrant was arrested Tuesday by Bull Shoals Police Department, according to Chief Dan Sutterfield.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. while on nightly patrol, BSPD officers found 28-year-old Cody Winchester of Missouri at Brown?s Beach. Officers discovered Winchester was wanted out of Seattle on a state fugitive warrant, and he was placed into custody without further incident, Sutterfield said.
Winchester told officers he was at Browns Beach with a female he had met on the Internet. Further investigation by officers found Winchester to be a habitual violent offender with a criminal history out of four states with numerous domestic violence charges, unlawful imprisonments, assaults on officers, escapes and vehicle thefts.
According to Sutterfield, officers spoke with the female who verified she had met Winchester on the Internet and had no idea he was a habitual violent offender with warrants. She said it was their first date.
Sutterfield said BSPD warns citizens to be very cautious about connecting with someone online and making plans to meet.
