Orlando Magic owner and Amway Inc. co-founder Rich DeVos is recovering in Michigan after suffering what the company called a mild stroke last month.

Amway said Wednesday that DeVos, 86, was taken Aug. 19 to a Grand Rapids, Mich., hospital after having a stroke. He remained for tests and observation, and was released Aug. 21.

---Mike Bantom has been named Executive Vice President, Referee Operations, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced Wednesday.

Bantom, a 23-year league executive and former NBA player, will oversee the NBA's officiating program, including the recruiting, training and development of all referees.

"Mike has been an invaluable part of the NBA for over 20 years and has excelled in leadership positions across both our domestic and international businesses," Stern said in a statement. "That experience, together with his considerable accomplishments on the court and his respect in the basketball community, make Mike an outstanding choice to lead the NBA's officiating program."
