Livermore: Police arrest suspect in shooting death of man found near golf course

LIVERMORE -- The man suspected of fatally shooting a 28-year-old Livermore resident last month has been arrested in Oregon and is awaiting extradition to California, police announced Wednesday.

Jacob Kober, 24, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting death of Kenneth Robert Ogden on Dec. 29, 2012.

Police said Kober, who fled to Oregon after the shooting, was arrested in Springfield and is currently in the custody of the Lane County Sheriff's Department, awaiting extradition. They did not say when Kober was arrested in Oregon.

About 7:21 a.m. Dec. 29, a man who lived on Galaxy Court in Livermore saw a man lying in the grass to the rear of his residence, which bordered the Springtown Golf Course fairway and neighboring bicycle paths.

The resident saw a female jogger near the man, who screamed that the man was unresponsive and to call 911, according to police.

The man was not breathing and did not have a pulse when Livermore police arrived. The Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department confirmed the man, later identified as Ogden, was dead.

Ogden had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said earlier that there was no indication that Ogden's death was gang-related, but that detectives would not release further details on the case.
